The demand. The PetMassage™ Training and Research Institute, responding to the many requests it has received from dog owners and animal care providers from around the world, now offers a distance learning course based on the 2007 book, by PetMassage™ founder Jonathan Rudinger, Transitions PetMassage™ Energy Work for the Aging & Dying Dog.  The book Transitions PetMassage™ has received many favorable reviews. It is widely shared among pet owners. It is a guide for many canine massage and bodywork practitioners. And, many veterinarians offer it to patients' families as part of grief support.

The need. The ends of dogs' lives are when the comfort and inner reflection attained through PetMassage™ is most needed, requested, and appreciated. We can see that dogs are pulled in different directions: one to follow their nature; the other to will themselves to stay and support their people. Families who are deeply connected with their dogs are often at a loss as to where they can turn for consolation.

Transitions PetMassage™ Energy Work for the Aging & Dying DogA pet's loss – or the anticipation of a pet's imminent loss -- can be devastating. For many of us, dogs are our closest – perhaps only – friends, confidants and support systems. We recognize the need for supportive measures to help both the dog and their people.  We know the depth of loss, disappointment, fear, displacement, and other emotions that surface.

The first and only. This is the first, and only, canine massage program that teaches the PetMassage™ for dogs' bodywork techniques specific to aging and dying, combined with grief support for the dogs' people.

The program. We talk about affecting every aspect that we can imagine of the dog's life force: body, mind and spirit. This is the time when the physical body is in transition mode, becoming, merging with the spirit of the Universal Big Dog. End of life care is an especially significant part of the PetMassage™ practice. The Transitions PetMassage™ assists dogs to tap into intuitive body, mind and spirit reserves, find its center, rediscover balance and comfort, and move on.

Transitions PetMassage™ Energy Work for the Aging & Dying DogTransitions PetMassage™ techniques help disengage emotional hooks that keep dogs and the pet parent from moving on. It allows for an easier process of remembering, resolving, releasing and letting go. Transitions PetMassage™ work helps calm the minds of pet and pet parent, reducing fear and anxiety in both. In this way, Transitions PetMassage™ work facilitates grieving and traversing its stages.

You will interact closely with families experiencing the various emotions that arise with their dog's passing. This course will aid you in discovering a profoundly effective and personal way of viewing, reacting, participating, and supporting dogs and their families as they move to accept the death - the greatest of all mysteries - of their dogs.

Prepare yourself. This course will prepare you for working with individual dogs and their families and to facilitate pet grieving groups.
