The PetMassage for Dogs Foundation level workshops are professional level training.
Since 1997, PetMassage™ for Dogs Foundation level workshops have concentrated on teaching specific PetMassage™ hands-on skills to prepare you, the student, to immediately practice your canine massage and begin to create your business. PetMassage™ workshops focus on that which has been identified as the most important component of canine massage, the intuitive aspect, or, what happens when your hands touch the dog's body.
PetMassage™ is a hands-on skill that is best learned one on one in a workshop or classroom setting. It is in workshops that you will learn the specifics of correct application of massage techniques, breathing, balance, and presence, benefits and contraindications, legal and ethical scopes of practice. The canine anatomy and business marketing components of the Foundation workshop are now the Distance Learning Courses: “PetMassage™ Basic Anatomy of the Dog” and “Creating and Marketing Your Canine Massage Business”

In the PetMassage™ Foundation level workshop you will learn to enhance your own body awareness while developing the intuitive skills necessary to be effective for quality canine massage. You will focus on learning to apply safe energy-body mechanics, interpreting animal body language, and employing clear body language skills and signals while interacting with dogs.
The texts for the PetMassage™ Foundation level workshop are all included in your workshop fees. The hands-on portion of this workshop will use the PetMassage for Dogs DVDs 1 and 2 and PetMassage™ for Dogs, Art and Essence of Canine Massage.
The two books, Creating & Marketing Your Animal Massage Business and Dog Anatomy Coloring Atlas will be the primary texts for the distance learning modules of the course.
PLEASE NOTE: You will get more out the workshop experience when you complete Sections 1-7 of the Canine Anatomy module prior to attending the on-site workshop. Please email your completed sections 1-7 to workshops@petmassage.com at least 2 weeks before your hands-on workshop. Your assignment for Section 8 will be arranged while you are attending the workshop

Hands-On Training: PetMassage™ for Dogs, Foundation level With Professional Instructors
4-Day Hands-on Foundation Workshop
Brand New PetMassage for Dogs Foundation Workshop format
Your on-site, hands-on workshop experience will be four full days of total immersion in the sensory interaction and connection with dogs. It is in these extended weekend workshops, under the direct supervision and tutelage of Jonathan Rudinger, where you learn the practical application of hands-on PetMassage™ skills. This workshop will open your eyes and heart to the amazing potential of PetMassage™. The workshop is a long, or extended weekend, Friday - Monday, 9 AM -5 PM.
PetMassage™ for Dogs, Foundation level Workshops are scheduled throughout the year, February - November. Each is an extended weekend, beginning on Friday and completing on Monday. The hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. All workshops are held at the PetMassage™ Ltd. School in Toledo, Ohio, and are taught by Jonathan Rudinger.
PetMassage™ for Dogs, Foundation level Workshops have small classes – usually eight to twelve students. Lectures and demonstrations use PetMassage books, models, charts, videos, other text references and a class syllabus.

Your life experience has brought you to this moment. You are finally deciding to follow your passion and enroll in your PetMassage™ workshop. This workshop, with its discussion-style lectures and attentive hands-on instruction, will help you toward your foundation for providing competent and nurturing canine massage. The distance learning modules will provide you a fundamental understanding of canine anatomy and a roadmap for developing your passion into a sound business.
PetMassage™ workshops, move at their own pace; building, and developing with repetition and direction. The PetMassage™ workshop is a gentle sanctuary where you can learn in an environment of caring, safety, support, and comfort. With each step, your instructor discusses, demonstrates, and offers practical applications. You and your classmates then practice on and with each other; and then demonstrate your interpretation of the practice of PetMassage™ with dogs. The massage that you will learn in your PetMassage™ workshop will be dramatically different from the massage that humans receive.
The PetMassage™ for Dogs Foundation workshop is for massage therapists and pet care professionals, as well as anyone who is in "vocational transition."
Workshops are about 30% lecture, 60% hands-on, 10% playing with dogs and 100% growth and enjoyment. You may bring your own dogs to class or we provide extra dogs. During the four days of the workshop, you will learn and practice with your dog, and the other students' dogs. The last day of the workshop, each class takes a field trip to our local ASPCA. You will be thrilled to see the effects of providing PetMassage™ to its temporary residents.
Movement and breathing exercises expand your sensory and spiritual awareness', develop healthy body mechanics, and make your PetMassage™ more effective. This course has been often been described as a personal development and enrichment class through the medium of canine massage.
The instruction is supportive, encouraging and geared to help you discover and develop your own personal canine massage form. The new 4-day format for the PetMassage™ for Dogs Foundation workshop, now addresses canine anatomy, and business marketing strategies through distance learning modules, so that it can be fully and completely focused on hands-on skills and applications.
The PetMassage™ form that you will learn at this workshop will be sufficient to satisfy more than 75 per cent of all the dogs you will encounter. It is an excellent start to your education and practice.
However, being generally effective is not the same as being knowledgeable for more specific purposes. The latter requires more specialized information and training. The PetMassage™ for Dogs Advanced level Workshop moves your practice toward the quality of massage that is more effective when working with veterinarians, training, and rehabilitation venues.
Students are encouraged to bring dogs. In fact, for every 2 dogs you bring, we will take $25 off your workshop course fees. If you are unable to bring your own dog, other lucky canine volunteers are provided.
Days and times: Friday through Monday classes: 9 AM to 5 PM with breaks for lunch.
Workshop fee: $1400 per person. Secure your place at the workshop with your non-refundable $800 deposit. (See below for policies.)
Continuing Education 100 NCBTMB, National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork CE's for MTs.

Each Workshop is held at the PetMassage™ Headquarters, Toledo, Ohio.

Policies:
- Foundation Workshops will have a maximum of 12 students per class.
- If, for any reason, you need to reschedule your participation in the hands-on portion of the workshop, you can enroll for another Foundation workshop with no penalty.
- If you need to cancel your participation in this workshop, your deposit, the monies you have paid will not be refunded. They will be applied to the cost of your distance learning modules and your course materials. The distance learning modules are independent courses. They, and the course materials for the workshop which you have received, are not returnable. You are welcome to complete the distance learning modules separate from the workshop; they must both be completed and received at the PetMassage™ school within 6 (six) months of the date of your workshop. The distance learning modules and the course materials total $814.85. The modules are valued at $325 each, not including the books used in the courses. This is a breakdown of the costs of all of the study materials used in the workshop: The Dog Anatomy: A Coloring Atlas, $45, Creating and Marketing Your Animal Massage Business, $25, the 2 DVDs, PetMassage™ for Dogs, Volumes I & II are $29.95 each and the book, PetMassage™ for Dogs, Art and Essence of Canine Massage is $34.95.
- If there are less than 2 students enrolled, the PetMassage™ School will not hold the workshop. If you have paid your deposit for a workshop, it will be applied to another workshop that is convenient to your schedule. We will contact you two weeks prior to your workshop to confirm that your class will be held.
